In the late 19th century the village Montmartre was incorporated to the city Paris. Nevertheless it has yet still not, after 150 years, quit adapted to the city life style but has its own brand of provincial village charm. On the north side of the cathedral Sacre Coeur there is  a lively, residential, working-class area fare from the nightlife around Moulin Rouge and Pigalle.

Place Clichy, once one of Ledoux’s toll-houses, is today one of Paris most crowded crossings where you will find a huge number of cinemas and cafes as well as the famous Brasserie Wepler and one of Paris oldest fish-restaurants, the Charlot.

Pigalle is universally known though it has no important monument to show or no famous battle to describe but through the detective stories written by Georges Simoneau. Pigalle is and remains nigh life and neon lights and still houses famous cabarets like Moulin Rouge, known for French can-can and the posters created by Toulouse Lautrec.
